Sofa 'can be saved despite stains'

Sofa 'can be saved despite stains'

Pen marks do not have to mean the end for a sofa

Even the most highly-prized sofa can get stained, whether this is by accident or a result of an inquisitive child coming into contact with permanent ink.

However, as distressing as this can be - particularly for those who have just refurbished their lounge room furniture - it does not have to be the end of the item's life, according to experts writing for the Guardian.

Cleaning guru Stephanie Zia told the publication that the best way to attack the problem is to research the care instructions for the fabric in question, as linen may have different requirements to velvet or other textiles.

Next, check out the recommendations from the manufacturer of the offending substance to see whether this includes cleaning suggestions.

Or - in the most extreme case - it may be worth taking the suggestion of interiors expert Lara Sargent, who told the Daily Mail recently that a lick of paint is always an option for wooden furniture.ADNFCR-2589-ID-800239303-ADNFCR
