A newspaper has explained the importance of positioning a sofa and television correctly to ensure maximum comfort.
The most important calculation these days in living rooms across the world is how far to place a sofa from the television.
Gone are the times where homeowners would worry most about the area of their front room or the size of the walls, now it is crucial to set up the optimum sofa-screen combination, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
One reason given for the new-found prominence of this problem is the sudden surge in size of the average set.
With 40, 50 and even 60-inch screens now common sights around the country, it is tougher than ever before to match it up with eye-level.
Ray Lepper, president of Home Media Richmond, tells the newspaper the typical eye line when seated is 36 inches above the floor.
He explains: "If the screen was a 60-inch diagonal, you'd want to place the centre of the screen no lower than 31 inches and no higher than 41 inches."
