People advised to personalise walls around lounge room furniture

New lounge room furniture may make for comfortable flatshare

Using photographs and paintings to personalise a lounge or dining room could be a good way to bring the best out in furniture.

Homeowners have been advised to complement their lounge or dining room furniture by creating a feature wall.

Writing for terrysfabrics.co.uk, interior design blogger Helen Green suggests choosing one wall to personalise, which should inject excitement into the whole room.

"Using artwork or photography can be one of the best ways to personalise a room and give it a touch of your own personality or evoke emotions and memories," she explains.

It may be best to follow this advice in a part of the lounge or dining room not currently dominated by a sofa or display cabinet.

Ms Green believes the effect will only be right if the whole wall can be dedicated to features, so moving furniture away from it and to other prominent positions in the room may be a shrewd choice.

The writer recently suggested lounge room furniture can help to define a room - especially one in which a range of activities are carried out.ADNFCR-2589-ID-19803341-ADNFCR
