Parents 'should buy bedroom furniture for children ahead of secondary school'

Enjoy "classic look" with bedroom furniture

Updating beds and other furniture ahead of a child starting at secondary school is important.

Parents with pre-teen children who will soon be making the step up to secondary school have been urged to update their bedroom furniture accordingly.

Leading US interior designer Priscilla Castellano says revitalising a bedroom - perhaps by introducing a new bed or bedroom table - can have a range of benefits.

She notes: "Especially for teens entering high school next fall, now's the time to get started on updating a teen bedroom. Well-designed bedrooms can help teens be more successful, both socially and academically."

As well as staple pieces of bedroom furniture - such as the bed - it is also worth splashing out on a desk and additional shelving, Ms Castellano states.

And the decorating of a room is important too, with light and bright shades ideal for self-expressing teenagers.

The Telegraph last week urged homeowners to take their time when choosing bedroom furniture to ensure they make the correct selections. ADNFCR-2589-ID-19757705-ADNFCR
