Homeowners in Scotland could be best placed to buy new furniture.
People planning to buy property in Scotland in the coming months may be in a position to fund the purchase of new lounge room furniture in a bid to improve the look of their home.
This is because, according to property marketers ESPC, buildings in the country are typically cheaper than elsewhere in the UK.
David Marshall, business analyst at the firm, says Scotland is benefiting from the currently low interest rate and subsequent affordable mortgage repayments.
"Scotland has always been comparatively affordable compared to the rest of the UK but that isn't uniform across the board," suggests the expert.
Those who manage to buy in the cheapest areas may find they have surplus cash with which to purchase lounge room furniture, such as a sofa and coffee table.
Recent figures by the Council for Mortgage Lenders show homeowners in Scotland require the smallest amount of their income to cover mortgage interest repayments.
