Lounge room furniture 'can be prone to accidents'

Purchasing new lounge room furniture for the World Cup may have been a tactic of some householders.

New lounge room furniture may have been bought by football enthusiasts who really want to make the most of this year's World Cup.

The Post Office World Cup Spending Report found the majority of people plan to watch the action from the comfort of their lounge room furniture.

However, football fans have been warned that with many friends and family invited round for the matches, lounge room furniture could be at risk of accidents, such as food and drink spillages.

"Your team may not win, but the last thing you want is to score an own goal when it comes to your home insurance," advised Gerry Barrett, head of Post Office Insurance.

The report also found almost a quarter of fans are set to buy a new plasma television to make sure the games are watched on as big a screen as possible.

Some may have even bought bigger or comfier lounge room furniture to accommodate all their friends and family.

The World Cup kicked off last Friday (June 11th) and saw England draw with the USA on Saturday after a blunder from West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green.ADNFCR-2589-ID-19835934-ADNFCR
