People who can afford to buy a sofa bed for their lounge room furniture areas have been advised to consider it.
Those looking to purchase furniture for their home should consider getting a new sofa bed, it has been claimed.
Interior design columnist for the Reading Eagle's Decorating Diary Joanie Friedman advised one reader that some items are best bought new, while others are acceptable second-hand.
A store-bought sofa bed falls into the former category, she suggested, adding that it is a "real advantage" if people can afford the investment.
Other furnishings that should not be bought from previous owners are mattresses and bed frames, the expert explained.
"Keep in mind you do not have to purchase everything at one time," she remarked.
If particularly flush, Ms Friedman stated, homeowners might also like to opt for an extra chair to go with their sofa bed.
Designer Sabrina Albanese told the National Post recently that sofa beds are a particularly good idea for guest rooms, as they make sleeping areas for visitors more comfortable.
