Furniture becoming more functional?

Sofa 'can be saved despite stains'

Interior design trends are beginning to prioritise function over form, it has been claimed.

Those looking to purchase new furniture may be interested to learn that one industry commentator has revealed that interior designers have been favouring function over form in recent years.

Writing for the International Business Times, Frank Foggatt stated that people are more interested in harmonising their properties in the current climate, rather than focusing on standout qualities.

He remarked: "It is a correct change in my opinion, as getting something to be 100 per cent unique is nearly impossible to achieve."

However, according to Mr Foggatt, structuring a residence by ensuring it remains neat will always be attractive and is much more achievable.

Keeping up-to-date on developments in the interior design sector is always important, he explained, especially considering it has changed more in the last 15 years than at any other point in its history.

Furniture expert Dirk-Uwe Klaas recently told Euronews that the recession has made home decorating more important to the general public.ADNFCR-2589-ID-19610125-ADNFCR
