Furniture 'more popular in lead up to Christmas'

Clean furniture is appealing, it has been suggested

The Christmas period has seen a rise in furniture items, according to one organisation.

Lounge room furniture seekers may be interested to learn that sales of items like sofas, lounge sets and recliners could be beginning to rise in the lead up to Christmas.

This is according to new research by the British Retail Consortium and KPMG, which showed that furniture purchases - such as a dining table and chairs set or a chest of drawers - increased in November.

The organisations noted that furniture has continued to be a popular choice for homeowners over the last few months.

Head of retail at KPMG Helen Dickinson said that while volumes in other areas could be considered "disappointing", furniture - which could include a bed or bedroom table - "had another good month".

This is because individuals are showing an increased focus on the home this festive season, she added.

People looking to invest in a good-value lounge room furniture Christmas presents were recently advised to buy a recliner by Coshocton Tribune writer Tom Edwards.
