A writer has urged people to look beyond style and price when it comes to buying a sofa.
Many people fall into the trap of selecting a new sofa based entirely on its style and affordability.
While these are clearly crucial factors when splashing out on a new seating arrangement for the lounge, industry expert Frank Cooney believes there is a third thing to consider - durability.
Mr Cooney, writing for Mad Blogz, advises people to spend some time thinking about what the sofa will be used for and who will sit on it.
This will help to determine which material it should be made from, with small children likely to cause more wear and tear than adults.
"Selecting a sofa that is affordable, stylish, durable and beautiful can fulfill the long-term needs of a household with minimal effort," he states.
Spending a little extra to secure a tougher sofa will, in the long run, work out to be a cheaper option.
Helen Green, writing for terrysfabrics.co.uk, last week suggested buying a lightly coloured sofa in order to create a summer feel in the lounge.
