New lounge room furniture may make a potential library development more comfortable.

A library in the US could splash out on lounge room furniture, including new display cabinets, if it is given permission to be rebuilt on a larger scale.

The book-borrowing facility in Hopkinton, Massachusetts wants to construct a new building on a plot next to the Center School, reports MetroWest Daily News.

At the time of publication, the local planning committee were meeting to decide whether the proposal should go ahead, with the verdict thought to be positive.

"I came in with the mindset that of course using and expanding the current site made the most sense," committee chairman John Ferrari is reported as saying.

Should town bosses soon be planning the emergence of a brand new library, the provision of lounge room furniture for comfort may be a key consideration, as could the inclusion of display cabinets in which to store books.
