Homeowners have been advised to make sure their rugs and their dining room tables are complementary.
Homeowners considering spicing up their dining room furniture areas with a new rug might like to look at how the table in the room ties in with the purchase.
Mary Carol Garrity of the St Petersburg Times noted that measurements should be taken so as to ensure that spacing is accurate.
"Don't make the mistake of getting a rug that's the same size as your tabletop," she warned, adding that the carpet should be extended 18 inches either side to make room for dining chairs.
Ms Garrity went on to state that, prior to making decisions regarding this, it is important to know where furnishings will go.
If, for example, furniture is to be positioned in the centre of an area, carpeting should be big enough to allow front legs of chairs and other articles to rest on it.
Those planning a complete revamp might like to heed the words of the Daily Mail, which recently reported that floral furniture is likely to be big this year.
