Buying new dining room table may be an investment in health

Change dining room furniture for 'funky new update'

The right dining room furniture could help families to keep healthy together.

Buying a new dining room table that is comfortable and large enough to seat the whole family could be seen by many as an investment in children's health.

One expert claims the item of furniture can be a central point in the bid to get youngsters eating nutritious and tasty food.

Judith Loffhagen, nutritionist and founder of Nutritious & Delicious, says it is vital parents do not allow their kids to become used to eating junk food and takeaways from an early age.

"I have no problem with children eating the odd bit of what you would call junk food ... [But] before you know it, at the dining table that will also be what they expect," she explains.

Providing a dining room table that is inviting to young ones and dishing up healthy meals is one way to tackle the problem.

Ms Loffhagen's words follow research by David Lloyd Leisure that showed the equivalent of 60,000 meals of burger and chips are eaten by fans at each weekend's Premier League fixtures.ADNFCR-2589-ID-800157623-ADNFCR
