Recent figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and KPMG show that while overall furniture sales in London have been lower, many buyers could be moving towards cheaper options.
Senior analyst of the business information team at BRC Joscelyne Hynard: "Homewares and furniture were generally tough, especially for big-ticket items, though with some better sales coming through from orders in clearances sales."

Stephen Robertson, director general of the British Retail Consortium (BRC), recently noted that good retail sales over the last few months have been caused by hot weather.
